Dear parents,
In Early years we are learning about ‘Farm Animals’. In line with our topic this term, Early years will be visiting Wonder Farm on Monday 22 May 2017. This will be a wonderful chance for the students to bring together their knowledge from books and media to now observe and experience some real life farm animals.
On this day students are to wear their school uniform. We will register the children at 8:15 am and we will leave school at 8:30. We will take a packed lunch and snack and return after lunch. Please send your child to school with their hat and apply sunscreen before they come to school. The students will be accompanied by Ms Aren, Khun Angun and Khun Fon,
The cost for this trip is 250 baht which includes the cost of the bus, water, food for the animals and to buy an ice cream. Please tick the box, sign and return the permission slip to the uniform office where a receipt will be issued to you. We need to have all the permission slips and money back to school by Tuesday 16 May.
If your child is unable to come on the trip please keep them home that day as there will be no teachers available to care for them here at school. If you have any concerns or questions regarding this trip then please do not hesitate to contact me. We look forward to everyone joining us.
Best regards,
Aren Aonok

 Dear Parents and Care-givers,

Happy New Year!

I am very glad to welcome 6 new children into EY this term, Charme, Num, Lukas, Jivin, Oscar and Seiya. They are settling in very well and making new friends. They are all so lovely and adorable!

The topic for the Term 2 Part 1 is ‘Storytelling’. It is a five week topic and we will be reading  traditional fairy tales like The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood to name but a few. If you have any stories at home like this please encourage your child to bring them in to school to share with their friends. Story telling can make an important contribution to the development of emotional literacy, social and emotional aspects of learning. It is also a unique way for children to develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for other cultures. We will be celebrating Chinese New year on Friday, January 24 at 10:40.

To give all children the best opportunities for PSED in Early years, we will support the children to develop a positive sense of themselves and others, to make them confident, to establish good relationships with other children and adults. We plan learning activities for the children to develop their independence and 21st Century skills.

To develop their physical skills we provide a range of mark making tools such as chalks, paint and stampers. The children will develop their fine motor skills through threading activities, play dough, using scissors and joining construction materials together.

For gross motor development, we will continue our outdoor adventures, walking in the school garden and playgrounds. We will develop football skills, throwing, kicking, catching, dancing and yoga, using wheeled toys, swings and climbing.

Here is a play dough recipe if you would like to make it at home with your child. Play dough offers many creative possibilities and can be lots of fun for children and adults alike! You can sit down and show different ways to roll, squash and mould the play dough. It is a good way to also develop their language by talking about what they are making, how it feels and about the different shapes and colours it can be.

You need:
·         2 cups plain flour (all purpose)
·         2 tablespoons vegetable oil
·         1/2 cup salt
·         2 tablespoons cream of tartar
·         Up to 1.5 cups boiling water (adding in increments until it feels just right)
·         food colouring (optional)
·         Few drops glycerine (optional- adds more shine!
Method:
  • Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil in a large mixing bowl
  • Add food colouring to the boiling water then into the dry ingredients (colour optional)
  • Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough
  • Add the glycerine (optional) - this makes it shiny
  • Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone. * This is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until it’s the perfect consistency!*
  • (If it remains a little sticky then add a touch more flour until just right.

We look forward to having lots of fun learning with your child this term.
